The V15 combines productivity with security and offers high-speed performance whenever it is needed.

We have reviewed this 15-inch business laptop for its design, functionality and real-world performance. Continue to read about its strengths and weaknesses, and to find out whether it has what it takes to be the best business laptop.

Specs sheet

Processor: Intel Quad-Core i5-1035G1 (10th Gen.) / 1.0GHz Max. Turbo Speed 3.6GHz

Display: 15.6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) Resolution

RAM: 8GB Storage: 256GB SSD

Graphics: Intel UHD Integrated

Weight: Around 4.1lbs (1.85kg)

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)

Design

Once you lay your eyes on Lenovo V15-IIL, you can’t take them off. The V15 offers an elegantly simple design, it is neither too glossy nor too dull. Lenovo has used high-quality material to make it sturdy and to keep the price low. It has a textured finish with a slightly thick 19.9mm profile and a weight of around 4.1lbs (1.85kg).

We found its design to be structurally firm which can withstand the casual knocks and bumps. The lid on this Core i5 business laptop is quite tough which we were unable to open with a single hand. The ventilation grill is on its bottom panel and goes from one end to another. Furthermore, there are two more cut-outs for speakers on the bottom side.

Display

Lenovo V15-IIL comes with a 15.6-inch diagonal display and a full HD resolution. The screen resolution of this Core i5 business laptop is 1920 x 1080p with 142PPI pixel density and a 0.18х0.18mm pitch. The narrow bezels improve viewpoint but we didn’t find the TN panel to be impressive. However, the screen delivers crisp visuals with bright, lively colours, thanks to the Intel UHD graphics.

Keyboard

Lenovo has fitted a small spill-resistant keyboard on the V15-IIL for added comfort and safety. You can work on it laying on your bed or on a sofa without worrying about everyday mishaps. The keyboard has decent key travel with large keycaps and the keys offer a tactile yet quiet feedback. This means that you can work on the go without irritating the person sitting next to you.

The touchpad on Lenovo V15-IIL is not of a high-quality, but still serves the purpose. It is responsive and offers a nice gliding experience without additional resistance. Overall, we found both keyboard and the touchpad to be productive for business professionals.

Connectivity

Lenovo has added a fair number of ports on the V15for data transfer and connectivity. Most of its ports are on the left side, including two Type-A USB 3.1 ports, a Type-A USB 2.0 port, a power connector and an HDMI output port. The right side houses a 3.5mm audio jack and an SD card reader slot.

Although this is a decent selection of ports, we were surprised to not see a Type-C or thunderbolt 3 port. Most of the modern business laptops now have these latest ports to facilitate fast data sharing.

Performance

The secret of functionality and performance of a laptop depends on how well the CPU deals with memory and storage. More importantly, how well the processor uses these two components to improve productivity and speed. A good laptop has a perfect blend of CPU, RAM and storage to offer a smooth working experience.

Lenovo V15 is a 10th generation Core i5 business laptop that comes a 256GB SSD storage drive and an 8GB RAM. This is a perfect combo for business laptops and the user gets most out of it. The process fitted in the V15 is quad-core i5-1035G1 that can deliver a clock speed ranging from 1.0GHz to 3.6GHz. Moreover, the Intel GPU improves the graphics ability of the device, ensuring a smooth display.

Battery life

Battery is where Lenovo V15 is a little behind from competitors of its class. It features a small 35Wh battery that Lenovo claims can deliver up to 6 hours of battery life. This is a few hours short that most business professionals would want but still, this is good at this price range.

Verdict

Lenovo V15-IIL, as a Core i5 business laptop, exceeded our expectations during performance evaluation. A 10th generation i5 CPU, large display, SSD storage and overall high-speed performance are its advantages. Although it lacks a long battery life, the laptop offers real value for its price.
